Principal's Message ~ Friday, October 13th, 2017

Forest Hills School

We Build Inclusion, Capacity, and Learning Communities

October 13th, 2017

This is a message from Mrs. Savoie, principal at Forest Hills School.

Today, we were thrilled to have guests Kate Shannon from Canaport LNG and MP Wayne Long, along with media visit our school breakfast program.  Canaport donated $10000 last year and another $10000 this year.  We wouldn’t be able to provide this important service to our students without the support of local business, government and volunteers!

You will notice that we’re beautifying the front lawn at FHS.  We have ordered two new signs for out front (haven’t arrived yet) and have created a rock garden inspired by the book Only One You  by Linda Kranz and a project Sharon Elementary School in Indiana shared on facebook.  All of our students and staff have painted a rock with the idea that there is only one you, but we are together and can make the world a better place.  This is a work in progress, so please feel free to check it out!

Battery Recycling Day is October the 20th, so please bring in those old batteries.

Please keep in mind that our next student half day will be Wednesday, October 25th

School Photos were this week, so please send your orders as soon as possible.  If you’d like re-takes, there is a place to indicate that on the envelope and re-takes will be held on November 3rd

We will be collecting pop tabs again this year.  Each class will collect their own for house points.  Last year, we had enough tabs to send a child and mother for a stay at the hospital which would have cost just over $1000!  Thank you for your support!

Just for your information, I will be out of the building as part of an external school review team on Tuesday and Wednesday and will be at a Principal’s meeting on Thursday.  Christine Halcrow and Chris Tobin will be filling in for me.

Remember Falcons, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe!

Have a nice long weekend,

Melissa Savoie
